Baby Massage Therapy Bonds Mother and Baby

Touch Therapy
Massage helps us to relax and soothe away the aches and pains and a whole lot more. Babies also benefit greatly from massage therapy. Touch therapy is healing.
A massage therapy allows mother and baby to bond together and spend more time with each other. This helps a lot especially for moms who have postpartum blues. Parents who have premature babies are encouraged to apply touch theraphy because it stimulates the baby and helps to improve the baby’s growth.
Massage helps babies to relieve the discomfort that is brought about by excess gas in their stomach. Excess gas causes colic pains and will make baby irritable, cry a lot and is in no mood for anything else.
Another benefit of touch therapy is that baby will sleep more peacefully because the massage will relax and soothe him. He will also feel more secure through his mother’s touch. As young minds are very impressionable, the relaxation a baby gets when massaged and the secure feeling he experiences by being close to his mother often influences his personality in a positive way.
Use oil that is mild and tested to be baby friendly when doing the massage so that your hand will glide on baby’s skin and it won’t hurt him. Remember not to apply too much pressure, be gentle and not over do it. Take out your rings and bracelets and any thing that has sharp edges which can harm and scratch baby’s skin. Touch therapy can be done any time of the day, as long as baby is comfortable and so are you. Start the massage slowly and build up to the desired pressure that baby can tolerate. If baby cries and won’t lie still, stop the massage and resume only when he is in a good mood.
