Potty Training for Toddlers Made Easy

Toilet training can be a difficult stage for you and your toddler but doesn’t need to be. It is a period of transition from diapers to pull ups to diaper-free and it can be traumatic for your toddler if you do and approach it the wrong way. There are many ways on how to go over it. It is not fool-proof and you have to have a long patience to go with whatever method you choose. There is a short way and a long way and you have to choose the best one that suits you and your toddler best. If on the first try, it was a disaster, do not panic and be frustrated, try and try again until your toddler will get the hang of it.
There are six major steps for an effective potty training. The first one is communicate. Tell your toddler that it is time for him to learn to use the potty. Explain it in simple words and way that he can relate and understand. It is okay to expect but don’t expect too much or you and your toddler will only be frustrated. Second is to be a model. Children learn best what they see. You must show them how to properly do it and they will be more than happy to oblige you. The next step is to prepare. No one goes to battle without preparation. Be attentive to your child and look for signs that he is ready to be potty trained. If your child can listen to what you say, can follow simple instructions and have some degree of muscle control, then it is high time to start potty training. Parents who have a well-thought-out and workable plan are far more successful than those who don’t have a plan. Next is to develop a routine and try to stick to it as much as possible. You will encounter some obstacles but it should not deter you from accomplishing your goal. So that your child will be motivated to learn, set a reward for say, every successful and correctly done potty. You decide what reward you will give because only you know what your child likes best. Lastly, if your child has already learned how to do it properly at the right time, then use it as a stepping stone for another step in his never ending learning process.
Potty traning is not always easy but if you are consistent, persevere and have patience, it will be done in no time at all.
