Sleep, it is one of the most talked about topics among mothers. Sleeping patterns vary from one baby to another and it does not do well for you to compare your baby’s sleeping habits to another baby as some babies sleep through the night while others often wake up.

Some of the causes why babies wake up in the night are hunger, sudden disturbance like noise, wet diaper, feeling too cold or hot, nightmares (for older children) and many others. It is the parent’s job to decipher what their babies need and to attend to it promply.

Many parents suffers lack of sleep due to their baby’s waking up in the middle of the night and they have to get up to pacify them and attend to thier needs. The key to this is to sleep or take a nap when your baby is asleep. This is effective if you are at home but you can take cat naps at the office if possible. Your nap should not be more than hafl an hour otherwise, you will find it hard to wake up quickly and it might disrupt your sleeping time in the night. It is not good to compensate for a late night schedule by sleeping through the day. Do not take naps during the day if your baby has already adjusted well because ther is nothing better than a good night’s sleep.

Some babies roll over in their beds. This is because the baby is rocking himself to sleep or he id finding a comfortable position. If you noticed this, do not disturb him, just let him go back to sleep by himself. If he wakes up, let him go back to sleep by himself at first. Do not get him used to your presence.

Encourage your baby to play as much as he wants during the day so that by sleeping time he will sleep soundly and continously. As you baby grows, he will develop a sleep routine and you should stick to it as much as possible. Feed him well before he sleeps so that he does not wake up hungry at night. make your baby get used to noises because he might wake up pretty fast even at the slightest noise. You can give your baby touch therapy or massage before he sleeps as this will help your baby to feel relaxed.
