Before Buying a Diaper Bag
Your diaper bag will be very important and becomes your best friend after your baby is born. This is where you will store everything that you will possibly need for your baby. How to find the right diaper bag is not hard, it will just take a bit of research. There are many things to be considered before you finally decide on what to buy. Here are some possible questions that you will be asking yourself before buying one.
Big or small? Actually the size does not matter. Ask yourself if you will be going places often and how long? Some people prefer to have one of each. Large diaper bags are great for a long trips, overnights or for parents of more than one child ( twins, triples and quads). They can handle the basics with great style. Small diaper bags are great for a quick trip out, running errands or a jaunt to the park.
Back or shoulder strap? While most diaper bags come with a shoulder strap, more and more are coming in back pack form. This is great for hands free care of your baby.
Breast or bottle feed? Breastfeeding will generally require less space because you won’t need to store bottles, formula and the like. Some breastfeeding moms prefer a small bag, though this isn’t always true. If dad or another caregiver is using a bottle for some mommy-free time you may wish to think about bottle holders for that purpose.
Cloth or disposable diapers? This might not be something you thought about, however, cloth diapers will require more room in a diaper bag, both the clean and the dirty. Be sure to look for a large bag to store dirty diapers, or at least enough room to bring them home with you.
Gender issues. Some men simply don’t care, but others wouldn’t be caught dead with anything that looked like a diaper bag. There are some newer models out that are less obvious. This also includes women who prefer the business or sportier look to their diaper bag. These new models are simply more stylish than their practical counterparts, but most are comparable in size and capacity.
