Before Buying a Diaper Bag

Tuesday, April 22nd, 2008

Your diaper bag will be very important and becomes your best friend after your baby is born. This is where you will store everything that you will possibly need for your baby. How to find the right diaper bag is not hard, it will just take a bit of research. There are many things to be considered before you finally decide on what to buy. Here are some possible questions that you will be asking yourself before buying one.

Big or small? Actually the size does not matter. Ask yourself if you will be going places often and how long? Some people prefer to have one of each. Large diaper bags are great for a long trips, overnights or for parents of more than one child ( twins, triples and quads). They can handle the basics with great style. Small diaper bags are great for a quick trip out, running errands or a jaunt to the park.

Week 9 - How Big Is Your Baby This Ninth Week?

Baby weighs 10-1/2 pounds and is 22 inches long this week.

Baby Care and Equipment

Front Carriers

A soft carrier that you wear on your chest can comfort and entertain] baby. If she’s fussy or needs calming, face her toward your chest. She’ll feel secure, and this helps calm her. When she’s alert and active, face her out so she can see the world. She’ll enjoy seeing what you see.

Some carriers serve more than one purpose. Some can also be worn on the back. Others can be used as infant seats. These carriers can be used until baby weighs a little more than 20 pounds, although some models support higher weights. Check weight specifications when you are comparison shopping.

An added plus—because these carriers look so much like a backpack, men don’t usually mind wearing them. Carrying baby is aj great way for dad to interact with baby.

Is My Child Overweight?

Saturday, April 19th, 2008

As a parent, we play a major role when it comes to our children’s weight management. A child is considered overweight when his weight is between 10 to 20 percent above the desirable level and obese when it is more than 20 percent above.

If you suspect that your child is overweight, have it checked out. It is easier to treat and develop healthy eating habits in your child before he develops any medical conditions associated with obesity. It is important that you see a dietician or doctor, who can assess your child’s history of weight gain and growth pattern.
